Nursery Progress

Well, we don't have any new pictures of Bella, but we are making progress in her nursery! I forgot to take a picture of the room before we started, but as many of you know, it was a Scooby-Doo themed guest room. John's brother, Jimmy, came over on Friday and they worked all day to get everything out of the room. The room had blue walls, a blue ceiling and terrible gray carpet...see below. So off we headed to buy paint. What a decision! We wanted to stay neutral since we plan to use this room as the nursery for our next baby (in a few years) and don't want to have to repaint if it is a boy next time. After about an hour of looking at paint strips, we went with a brighter yellow called "Baby Duckling." I thought the name was perfect and so is the color. John would prefer something more dull, but I insisted that it needed to be cheerful. We also decided to paint the ceiling white since the blue that was there didn't match at all. Check out John working hard on painting the ceiling! The next step was putting white primer on the walls to cover up the yucky blue. John and I also cleaned out the closet and he took out the make-shift shelving that the previous owners had in there. He then put primer on all of the walls and painted the closet and baseboards with white paint. John also ripped up the icky gray carpet that was in there. We are lucky that the hardwood flooring underneath is in great condition. Right now the carpet pad is still on the floor to protect the hardwood from any paint spillage. Here is what the room looks like right now. If it were up to John, the nursery would stay like this...all white! However, I have convinced him that Bella needs some color in her life. So our next step is to paint the walls with our Baby Duckling yellow paint and pull up the carpet pad. We will give the hardwood floors a good cleaning and then decide whether or not to put up the "Soft and Fuzzy Pooh" border. Here is a picture of what our theme looks like from Babies R Us. We did most of our baby registry there since they had the theme I wanted, but we also registered at Buy Buy Baby and a little bit at Target. I think the border looks cute in this picture, but I am just not sure if I will like it in our nursery. Stay tuned...

We are having a little...

We are having a little GIRL! I know it is a little hard to tell in this sonogram pic, but the sonographer was pretty sure we are having a girl! There is nothing hanging down, which means its a girl. Although we only have this one picture, the sonographer showed us four different views of our baby's "lower anatomy" and all signs point to girl. So that means Isabella Christine Down is due to join our family in mid-November! The rest of the sonogram went very well. We got to see all of her parts and everything looks great. They kept saying how strong her head and brain looked, too. They even decreased our risk of Down Syndrome by 50% since they did not see any markers during the sonogram. John says it was his best birthday present ever to be able to see his healthy baby girl! I think she already has him wrapped around her very little finger! We have another appointment on July 10th, but it will just be a heartbeat check.
