Summer Fun!

It's been a while since I have posted anything because we have been enjoying our summer to the fullest! Let's see...where do I begin? I guess the summer started with celebrating my 31st birthday. We went to Timpano's to celebrate and had awesome food! We also celebrated Father's Day. Bella had croup on Father's Day, which is why she is in her pajamas for the gift giving. :) We ended up going out to eat with my dad later in the week when Bella was feeling better. Unfortunately, John had to work, so it was just my dad, mom, sister, and Bella. We went to Sapphire in Laurel and had a great time.

Our next adventure was to Richboro, Pennsylvania (near Philadelphia). My dad's side of the family lives there and we went up for a family get together. It is the first time we have taken Bella up there, so we were excited! She did great for the 8 hour car ride (4 up and 4 back) and had a lot of fun playing with all of her wonderful cousins. The "big kids" let her play softball with them and she thought she was too cool. She also got to color with her cousin, Caprice, at my grandmother's little table. The table has all of the cousins' handprints on it. We drove up and back in the same day, so we were exhausted, but it was worth it. (The first pic is just a cute shot of Bella in her "movie star" sunglasses. She was walking to the car before we left for our trip.)

Next, we celebrated John's 33rd birthday! We went out to dinner and then gave gifts back at home. Bella made John a plate that says "I Love U Daddy" at the Mud Hut. He loved it! Bella also enjoyed "signing" the birthday card for her Daddy. She spent a full 10 minutes on it! He also got the Lego Harry Potter game from my mom and we have really enjoyed playing that together!

We went to Butler's Orchard to go blueberry picking on July 3rd. Bella loved every second of picking them AND eating them! Then we celebrated the 4th of July by going to the Garrett Park parade and then over to Suzanne's house for a night of friends and good food. Bella ate even more blueberries ("bayies" as she calls them) that night. She has now realized that they are by far her favorite food and requests them often!

On July 5th, we were very happy to meet up with John's sister and niece in Annapolis for the day. I have never met them and John hasn't seen his sister in nearly 20 years. It was a great reunion! We had an awesome tour of the State House (thanks to his sister!) and then ate lunch at Chick and Ruth's Delly. John was looking forward to eating there since Man vs. Food was taped there not too long ago. It was a wonderful day and we look forward to getting together with them again soon!

Bella turned 20 months on July 7th and is getting so big and grown up! We can't believe how fast the time has gone by. We went to the pool and she started her Little Gym class. She really enjoyed the balance beam and is pretty good at it. She likes to explore and do her own thing during most of class time though. We are lucky that my friend, Tali, has her daughter, Noa, in the same class. The girls enjoy their time together.

This past weekend, my sister and I ran an 8K in Rockville! It might not sound like much to some people, but it was our first race, so we were pretty happy! My mom came to support us and it was an awesome night.

Then, we went to the Splash Park in Germantown today with my friends, Alison and Tulasi, and their kids. We ran around and played in the water all morning and then ate lunch at the picnic tables at the park. Bella ended up taking a 3 and a half hour nap, which always makes Mommy happy! We had an awesome time and can't wait to go back!

We are excited about our upcoming vacation to Ocean City in August. We also look forward to many other trips to the pool, the Zoo, the Splash Park, the playground, and more! Hopefully, I will not take as long to post the next set of Summer Fun pics! :)

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very busy Memorial Day weekend! We were invited to a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday. It was Bella's first time in a Temple and she did very well. She wore her pretty dress and ate lots of snacks! After the Bar Mitzvah, we played outside and she saw a bunny. The bunny let her get so close and she couldn't control her excitement! The second and third pictures are pure happiness. I know it is hard to tell if she is laughing or crying, but trust me...she was VERY happy!

On Sunday, we went to Cabin John Park and met up with Tali, Dan, Noa, and my mom. We had a great time. We haven't been there since the Fall and boy what a difference it makes to be able to run around on her own. She ran from one playground area to the next and just couldn't get enough until she finally tuckered herself out!

We went to the pool on Monday for the first time this season. I always love the first day of going to the pool. Feels like summer even though we still have a few more weeks of school left! Bella enjoyed running around and splashing in the baby pool and playing with Nena. We also went in the big pool to practice her kicking and jumping off the side of the pool. She did a great job with both! We also had a yummy picnic lunch. Needless to say, Bella took a very nice (3.5 hours) nap that afternoon!

Bella's red, white, and blue outfit for Memorial Day!

We brought in June with bubbles and sunglasses this afternoon. I can't even express in words how much this girl likes bubbles! We keep the bubbles on the mantel by the front door and Bella calls out "bubba, bubba" (her word for bubbles) as soon as we walk in the house.

18 months old!

Our baby girl is already 18 months old - time flies! John and I decided to take the day off to spend the day with Bella. We began the morning with her 18 month checkup. It went very well. Bella weighed in at 26 pounds and 4 ounces (70th percentile) and is 33 inches tall (90th percentile). She passed the "Baby Olympics" (that is what our pediatrician calls it) with flying colors. She did "Head, shoulders, knees, and toes" and "Wheels on the Bus." She also did her animal sounds and gave an impressively loud scream when she had her 3 shots. :(

Bella was excited about being 18 months old! She also had a fine time playing with Daddy while we waited for the nurse to come back in to give her the shots.

Then we headed over to Montgomery Mall to get family portraits and 18 month shots of Bella at Sears. She did better than I expected, but would NOT stand still for a standing shot. Everytime we told her to stand up, she did and then promptly started running around. Running is her new favorite activity! After the pictures, we ate lunch at Legal Seafood (yuck for Mommy!) and then headed home for nap time...ahhhh. Here are a few pics from the photo shoot!

Easter (a little late...I know)

Even though Easter was nearly two weeks ago, I decided I should still post the pics. Easter happened to fall on our wedding anniversary this year, so it was an extra special day. We also got to see Gigi, which made it just perfect!

The Easter Bunny was very good to the Down Family!
Beautiful girl with her Easter basket.

Sitting outside of Gigi's house because we got there way too early!

Opening her Easter basket from Nena...WOW!

One of my favorites! She looks so funny!

Awww...reading with Aunt!
Wearing adorable Easter Bunny ears!
Even funnier...putting them on Daddy!

The ladies! Me, my mom, Bella, and my sister.
